ILD Cats Tea Party

Hello dear readers! How are you?

At the weekend I attended the TIL International Lolita Day tea party at the Grand Hyatt hotel in Roppongi. The theme was ‘Cats Tea Party’ so I wore Triple Fortune’s koma neko print.

It was my first time trying out wa-lolita after many years of consideration! I suppose I went the safe route with a Japanese print. Here’s a closeup of the print:

Cute!! I started collecting koma inu recently, I really love them.

I tried a cat ear hairstyle with my wig. It was very easy, just roll up a section on each side and then put in lots and lots of pins.

It’s a bit hard to see but I used red eye makeup for a ‘wa’ look.

It was very peaceful at the hotel and I particularly liked the savory menu items and also the tea itself which was baked apple flavour. It had a nice natural and not too sweet taste.

The little apple tart looked so pretty! The chocolate cake was probably my favourite dessert though.

It was a big meet up so it was hard to talk to everyone, however I really enjoyed seeing everyone’s wonderful outfits, particularly how each person interpreted the theme differently. I’m really grateful to our mods for organising such lovely meet ups; it isn’t easy but it’s much appreciated!

How did you celebrate International Lolita Day? Thanks for reading and see you next time!

Strawberry Dessert Buffet

Hello dear readers! How are you?

Did you celebrate St Valentine’s Day? In England, usually gentlemen give their partners flowers and chocolates, and sometimes couples will go out to dinner or a special date. In Japan, women give men chocolate, or sometimes people just give chocolate to their friends and co-workers. Making handmade chocolates is quite popular.

I made these simple chocolate cornflake cakes and decorated them with manly bears and blue hearts. Grr! You need 100g chocolate and about 80g cornflakes. Melt the chocolate, stir in the cornflakes until they are completely chocolate covered and then spoon them into cake cases. When they have cooled down a bit you can sprinke on some decorations (or leave them elegantly bare, as you wish). After that leave them in the fridge for a while to set completely. Easy!

I also went to a tea party with lolita friends. We went to the Stawberry Dessert Buffet at the Hilton. There were all sorts of strawberry things- strawberry milk with tapioca beads, strawberry madelines, strawberry macarons, matcha strawberry cake etc etc…

I liked the tapioca best, I think I had three or four of them. I wanted to get my money’s worth so I paced myself, alternating between sweets and savories in order to fit in as much as possible! I think I did pretty well.

Some people wore strawberry themed outfits which was very cute! I was going to but then my friend gave me this amazing Juliette et Justine dress which I just had to wear right away!

The material is gorgeous, plus I love the length and neckline. Thank you ♥︎ And on this particular day I’m glad it wasn’t too tight on the tummy!

Thanks for reading and see you again soon,

International Lolita Day 2015

Hello dear readers! How are you?

Last month the Tokyo International Lolitas celebrated International  Lolita Day  with a tea party at Jardin de Luseine in Harajuku.

先月原宿の ジャルダン・ド・ルセーヌで国際ロリータの日のお茶会へ行きました。

I wore Innocent World’s Antique Pansy onepiece. It’s only the second time I’ve worn it since I was saving it for the party (I wore it once as a test- wearing clothes is such a serious business!). I really love the 1950s look that it has, and inspired by that I made a veiled headdress with ribbon pansies to match the ones on the dress. The pansies are quite simple to do but look very effective providing that you have the right ribbon.

Jardin de Luseine is a very popular spot for lolitas  these days. It has several rooms all decorated in antique style so it has just the right atmosphere.

We had a choice of tea or coffee served hot or iced, and this dessert plate. There was a cronut (croissant doughnut), berry panna cotta, and a stewed fig with cream inside. The fig wasn’t so popular generally but everything on my plate disappeared quite quickly somehow!

We had one floor all to ourselves so we had plenty of time for photo taking. Lots of people did the playing piano pose, myself included!

The mods organised some fun games for us including a raffle. They even put together little goodie bags for all of us! They did a great job organising a really fun day for us.

Thanks for reading and see you again soon!
