Golden Week

 Hello everyone! Hope you are well. Today I’ll share a few pictures from Golden Week.

今回はゴールデンウィークのレポートです。

Golden Week is in May, when a few public holidays fall closely together to sort of make up a week. There are usually gaps in between, and since my job does not respect public holidays anyway I found myself working. On the way to the studio I decided to grab breakfast, and made a happy discovery of a branch of Cafe du Monde, which is famous for beignets.

ゴールデンウィークでしたが、私は仕事がありました。スタジオへ行く前、美味しいベニエを食べました！

I had been to another branch in Ikebukuro, which I also came across by chance. They are so delicious!

On another day, I went to Inokashira Zoo to hold the famous guinea pigs. Unfortunately I got there so late that they’d already been put away! Anyway it was free entry that day and I saw the bird enclosures and had a picnic and tea, so it was a nice day even if it was lacking in guinea pigs.

他の日、井の頭動物園へ行きました。モルモットを触りたかったですが、私は遅く行きましたのでモルモットが皆寝ちゃってました！あれはちょっと残念でしたが、鳥を見てお茶しましたので楽しい一日でした！

  

I wore a straw bonnet for a ‘stroll in the countryside’ look. It’s my old handmade bonnet from years ago but I recent added a lace trim. The onepiece is Juliette et Justine, socks from Metamorphose and wrist cuffs from Baby.

On another day I went to Shimokitazawa, trying to find things for my new-ish house.  There is a nice second hand furniture shop there (Limone) and a shop selling all sorts of shabby chic items. I’m not sure of the name but it’s on the north side. Apart from that there are all sorts of bric-a-brac shops and recycle shops.

他の日下北沢へ行きました。あそこ大好き！古着屋さんとアンティーク家具屋さんと可愛いカフェがいっぱいあります。

I wore my ¥700 shop dress, charity shop hat , and Primark socks! My accessories are a bit more upmarket; my bracelet is from Mariwest, and the cameo necklace I got as a present from my friend some years ago. It’s definitely my most worn necklace. I love it so much!

このワンピースは高円寺の古着屋さんで買いました。高円寺も大好き！2年くらい高円寺に住んでいました。そして帽子はイギリスの古着屋さんで買いました。

I went to my usual cafe, LaPalette. They have the most delicious homemade cakes! This one is pumpkin.

下北沢の「ラパレット」でよくお茶します。美味しいですよ！今回かぼちゃのケーキにしました。

Babushka Day

Hello dear readers! How are you?

ごきげんよう！サフィラです。

Today I’ll tell you about a lovely cafe in Shimokitazawa. I noticed Sachi (Kokusyoku Sumire) and Reica Chatani posting about it, and I really wanted to go and check it out!

最近とても素敵なカフェに行きました。乙女の人気カフェです！

It’s called Babooshka and it’s a retro style cafe that displays and sells lovely handmade items like dolls and accessories, plus works of various artists. Kokusyoku Sumire have held concerts there and Atsuko Kaneda the artist and maker of delicious cakes works there. It is a perfect place for maidens!

下北沢のバブーシュカです！このカフェの中で、色々な可愛い物がいっぱいあります。

I went there together with my friend Aviva who writes Solar Flight Voyage. We wore Russian-inspired outfits and of course we accessorised with babushkas!

アビバちゃんと一緒に行きました。もちろんバブーシュカをかぶりました！

Aviva bought something in Wonder Rocket in Shimokita and the staff took a polaroid of us for their customer photo wall. They also kindly took some extras for us to keep!

ファッションテーマはロシアンロリータです。バブーシュカにコサージュを合わせました。

This onepiece is Victorian Maiden from around the early 200os. The skirt is so small that it’s not possible to wear anything but the flattest petticoat. I don’t mind that though, flat skirts are very handy for everyday wear! I like this dress very much, and I actually got it the first time I visited Babooshka a couple of weeks previously when they had a flea market there. Everyone was so kind! My bag is Innocent World, blouse is Gunne Sax and other bits and bobs are second hand and offbrand.

The way the cakes are served is so pretty, and they are totally delicious too! I’ve had chiffon cake and cheesecake, both so good. There’s also a selection of hot and cold drinks and you can get pasta and curry too!

金田アツコさんのケーキは美味しいし、可愛いし、大好きです！

The interior is so quaint and cute, and full of my favourite things like antique toys and pictures of pretty girls! There is a whole wall of adorable bunka dolls, old and new. I just want to live here!

可愛いとレトロなオブジェーがあります。私は文化人形が大好きです！

Since we had matching outfits I thought it would be cute to do purikura. It came out pretty well! I’m still not very good at decorating but I decided I like this machine called Milk Beauty because it has lots of stupid stickers with quotes about milk and it makes you look like a baby.

私とアビバちゃんはぺアールックのプリクラをとりました。楽しかったです！

I always have a nice time with Aviva and I’m looking forward to our next outing. If you have a chance to visit Babooshka, I really recommend it! I think it has a unique atmosphere and the staff are so kind, and it’s location in Shimokita makes for a nice day out. As I said it is perfect for maidens, but anyone could enjoy it I’m sure!

東京で素敵なカフェがよくありますが、多分私はバブーシュカが一番好きです！遊びに行って下さいね。

Babooshka is located five minutes walk from the South Exit  of Shimokitazawa station. It is open every day except Wednesday from 12pm to 9pm. The address is Setagaya-ku, Kitazawa, 2 Chome−1−1.

Shimokita and Harajuku

Hello dear readers! How are you?

ごきげんよう！サフィラです。

A little while ago I went to meet some friends in Shimokitazawa. Here’s my outfit:

少し前下北沢で友達に会いました。あの日のコーデでございます：

 

My blouse, jumperskirt and ribbons are from Metamorphose. My bag is BABY and tights and shoes are offbrand. I think it doesn’t come across so well in this picture but my blouse and tights are navy blue. I’ve been wanting to try out combining navy and saxe blue, do you think it worked well this time?

ブラウス、ジャンパースカート、リボン、ぜんぶメタモルフォーゼです。ハンドバッグはBABYです。多分見にくいですが、ブラウスとタイツはネイビーです。ネイビーとサックスはどうですか？

We went to a cafe called Shimokita Cha-en. They specialise in shaved ice. I don’t usually like ice desserts all that much, but on this day it was very warm and the cafe was actually hot! So it was perfect. They had a lot of interesting flavours like sakura, matcha and houjicha. I chose kuromistu kinako with shiratama topping. It was really good! The size was so generous that I couldn’t finish it unfortunately. I’ll surely go back here again in the hot summer and try some other flavours! Or maybe have this one again, haha.

友達と一緒にしもきた茶苑でお茶しました。しもきた茶苑の専門はカキ氷です。色々な味があります（たとえば桜味、ほうじ茶味）。私は黒みつきなこと白玉トッピングにしました。とても美味しかったです！でも、すごく大きかったので、ぜんぶ食べられませんでした。７月か８月ぜひまた行きます！ほかの味も食べてみたいです。

After having a walk around Shimokita, we went to Harajuku. Of course we had a look in Closet Child. I got this cute crown-shaped Jane Marple necklace. I really love Jane Marple accessories but this is actually my first piece. I’m not very good at wearing jewellery (I usually forget to put it on…) but I’m perpetually making an effort to get better at it. I think this will go with a lot of things and it’s not too heavy (I have had some painful experiences with heavy pendants) so I’ll try to wear it a lot. I also got the Blooming Snow White underbust jumperskirt in off-white. Since I donated my Marie Antoinette skirt to the cats charity bazaar, I didn’t have any BABY clothing and I honestly didn’t expect to own any more since it seldom suits me. However I came across this lovely jumperskirt for a low price (apparently it has damages but I still haven’t found them) and it looked so cute and spring-like I couldn’t resist! It’s pretty short so I’ll have to wear it in an otome-ish way.

下北沢でお散歩とお買い物をしました、そして原宿に行きました。もちろんクロチャイに行きました！ジェーンのパールクラウンペンダントとBABYのブルーミングスノーホワイト柄ボーン入りジャンパースカート（オフホワイト）を買いました。背が高いので、私はBABYが少ないです。でも、このシリーズが大好きです！白雪姫大好きです。プリントは色んな色がはいてありますので色々のコーデを作れるのは楽しみにしています。スカートは短いので多分ロリータより乙女系の着方の方がいいと思います。
